    The adjustment at the level of the straps is perfect as well for the maintenance of the back with the slats.

    Only small flat the rigid weight which can be a can derangant in the small time realy good

    Good comfortable fitting harness

    I'm 177cm high and got the S/M fit is pretty much perfect so the size guide is accurate. Harness has good adjustability so you can find a comfortable fit around the crotch. The added knife tucked into the shoulder strap is a nice touch too as is the quick release hook. Only one negative is the velcro strap that covers the straps on the side of the harness pulled out on the first sail. Maybe a manufacturing defect? Have stitched that back on and has been going good since with no other problems.

How do I fit the Vaikobi Quick Release Harness Hook?

When your Vaikobi QR harness arrives, the hook will be attached by a cord — untie this to get started. Place the hook onto the spreader bar, lining up the holes with the two prongs, then insert the pin through the top of the hook into the spreader bar. The first fit will be tight — this is by design.

We recommend leaving the hook on the spreader bar permanently. Within 7 days it will settle into the foam pad, making the pin easier to release. Read more about how the QR harness works.

How does the quick release skiff harness work?

The Vaikobi Torque Quick Release Harness uses a pin and quick release tab mechanism that can be activated when not under load — keeping you securely hooked in while trapezing or manoeuvring, but allowing fast release in an emergency. Read more in our complete guide to the QR skiff harness.

What to wear surfing all year round?

What you wear surfing depends on the water temperature and conditions. Here's a quick guide:

  • Cold water surfing — a full-length wetsuit is essential. Look for sealed seams and a snug fit to prevent water flushing through. Layer a thermal top underneath for extra warmth, and avoid cotton which loses insulation when wet.
  • Warm water surfing — swap the wetsuit for a UPF50+ rashie or UV top to protect against sun exposure and board abrasion. Pair with boardshorts or swimwear.
  • Year round — polarised sunglasses protect your eyes from glare, and neoprene socks or water shoes are worth considering for rocky reef breaks and boat ramps regardless of the season.

How to care for your neoprene wetsuit?

Proper neoprene wetsuit care will significantly extend the life of your suit. The key rules: always remove your wetsuit while it's still wet, rinse with fresh water after every session to prevent salt corrosion, and dry flat in the shade - never in direct sun or a dryer, both of which degrade neoprene over time. Take extra care with zips, flushing out sand and salt to prevent seizing, and store your suit fully dry to avoid mould and odour.
