FAQs
What is the difference between the Speed-Grip and Waveflex boots?

Vaikobi offers two families of water boots, each suited to different sports and preferences:

Waveflex Low Cut Boot — the newer of the two, the Waveflex is built for maximum sensitivity and a barefoot-style feel. Thin 2mm neoprene and 1mm rubber panels keep it ultra-lightweight and flexible, making it the best choice for foilers, surfers, and skiff sailors who need precise feedback from the board or deck surface. VAR panels protect high-wear zones without compromising feel. No zip — it pulls on and off easily. Best for warm to cool conditions.

Speed-Grip FLEX Boot — more structured than the Waveflex, with layered rubber and woven fabric support in key areas like the sole and ankle. Still flexible where it counts, but with more rigidity for sailors who need solid connection to hiking straps. Features a zip closure for a secure fit. Wider toe box than the Waveflex, making it a good option for wider feet. Available in low cut and high cut.

Speed-Grip High Cut Boot — the high cut version of the Speed-Grip adds above-ankle coverage and 5mm neoprene for cold weather sailing and ocean sports. The best choice for skiff sailing with hiking straps, or cold water kayaking and surfski.

Which should I choose?

Choose the Waveflex if you prioritise sensitivity and a surf bootie feel — ideal for foiling, skiff sailing, and warmer conditions. Choose the Speed-Grip if you need more structure and hiking strap connection, or the Speed-Grip High Cut for cold weather and offshore conditions.
